About Us

Tres Pesos is a group consisting of three guys who come from vastly different backgrounds.

Of the many possible  paths that lead to destiny, it rarely matters which is taken, more so it matters where they lead.

BAND MEMBERS:

ANDY -
Live music has always been Andy's passion.  Like many others in high school, he enjoyed pop music and started a local band with his friends. He picked up the one instrument that’s often overlooked.  Behind those with showy guitars and flashy drums, there he stood plucking his bass and quietly planning to learn everything about all the kinds of music he possibly could.  He soon discovered he had a musical voice and stepped up to become the lead singer in his first rock and roll band.

He began formal study on the acoustic and electric guitars and electric bass during his high school days. In 1986 he auditioned and was accepted into DePaul University of Chicago, a school of music that provided him with expanded studies in jazz, country, classical and Big Band music. This foundation has allowed him to adapt his playing to the drums, harmonica, piano, and mandolin. He has developed a repertoire which includes Latin, folk, bluegrass, country, blues, classic rock and reggae. Chicago offered many opportunities for him in the form of parties, weddings, hotels and nightclubs, and he felt inspired by the city’s love of live music.
In 1996 he relocated to Orlando.  In the last few years he has played various instruments and sung both solo and in small bands. Venues have included parties, weddings, church, senior communities, nightclubs and restaurants.

ROB -
Rob comes from College Station Texas and was raised by his grandparents. His grandfather was the first to put the guitar in his hand. His grandfather was a blue collar guy who sang country music very well. The influences he got from him are still some of his favorites: Hank Williams, Merle haggard, George Jones, Jimmi Rodgers. Growing up so close to Austin during the 80's who else but SRV would be his most dominant guitar influence. He had lived in the Caribbean for a couple years and there he became really connected to Bob Marley’s music, finding it to be much like American country music. After that he lived in Chicago for a few years and fell in love with Wilco, which brought him back around to bob Dylan. He really enjoys music history. He likes to dig in to why a certain artist was and what their relevance was to the bigger music picture. He loves time lines especially from the 50's and 60's. Everything moved so fast and free then. He hopes to see it again someday in the industry.

CHRIS -
Chris picked up his first instrument at the age of 11. It was inevitable that by being the son of a musician's son (who was also a son of a musician), he would somehow be musical. After experimenting with other instruments such as the guitar, drums, and saxophone he finally found his niche as a bass player.
What does he aspire to? In a perfect world, he would like to achieve the highest level of personal success possible. To engage in a journey where all the individuals equally contribute to the success of the whole. He wants to be in an environment where the communication is open & free without the feeling of limitation. Where all agendas are common knowledge. "Good" has no secrets. He wants to be in a situation where the band communicates at an almost subliminal level. Rigidity? No thank you.

His experience includes a background in the genres of Blues, R&B, Soul, Funk and Rock. He is, musically, only motivated by music that people find irresistible. Music that makes people want to get up and dance; whatever the style may be. He has toured both regionally and nationally with Grady Champion and Michael Locke & the Repeat Offenders. He has also worked with several other South  and Central Florida bands over the past several years. During that time, he has done weddings, corporate, clubs, private parties, concerts, and festivals.
If you had to pinpoint a style that he leans toward, perhaps it would best be described by telling you which musicians most influence him. They would be Jack Bruce, John Paul Jones, Chris Squire, Sting, John Entwistle, Larry Graham, & John Bonham.
Aside from bass, he also plays  guitar, keyboard, , cigar box, mandolin, and drums.
